Bear Lake Family Reunion

This weekend we had our annual family reunion down at Bear Lake. Since I don’t have a car, I decided (about four weeks ago) to ride my bike over. It was a very long ride, with about 75% of the way there being uphill, and my behind was pretty sore when I arrived eight hours after leaving my house. But I made it there all right without any major incidents (there were a few jerks who buzzed me in their big Duramax trucks).

It was really good to see old relatives, especially those who hadn’t come for years. We got to wakeboard, and just enjoy each other’s company and renew acquaintances and friendships and strengthen family ties at the beach, and at each other’s RV’s.

It stormed quite a bit this year. We usually have one or two squalls during the weekend, but it seemed like there were more this year…maybe I’m just imagining things though. While all the kids complained about the cold weather and not being able to swim, I took advantage of the good light and skies and went wild with my camera.

Here are just a couple photographs I made:

Trench, Moat, Bear Lake, Utah, 2008

Sand Ring, Bear Lake, Utah, 2008

Common Reeds, Bear Lake, Utah, 2008

One thing I found pretty challenging, was how to photograph that place again and not make the same photographs I made last year, or how to keep all the photographs from becoming a one-note song. Anyway, I’ll be posting more as the week progresses.
